The Review of “China: The Transformation From World Factory to World Market” Lecture——specially invited by the Global Master Program in International Business
On the afternoon of January 11, Mr. Gangping Wu, member of the International Advisory Committee of Lingnan (University) College, chairman of EY China, managing partner of EY Greater China, and member of one of China’s four largest accounting firms, Global Executive of EY, was invited to Lingnan (University) College to deliver a lecture titled“China: The Transformation From World Factory to World Market” to students from the Global Master Program in International Business.
The lecture was mainly delivered by Mr. Gangping Wu, the Chairman of EY, China. Distinguished guests presenting alongside him, are Mr. Yin Wang, Chief Executive of EY Guangzhou, China, and Dr. Liang Ye, partner and head of strategic and operational transactions in Greater China of EY. This lecture was hosted by Mrs. Geng Liang, the Associate Director of the International Relation’s Office of Lingnan (University) College.

With veteran experience from a decorated career, Mr. Wu made an analysis on China’s economic development process and its present situation. China’s economy is now transitioning from relying on investment and exports, to consumption and integrating itself openly into the global market.

Then, Mr. Wu explained the differences between “world factory” and “world market.” He also analyzed the strategy and impact of China’s economic transformation by using similar examples from Japan and America.

On top of that, Mr. Wu talked about how foreign capital, transnational enterprises, and Chinese enterprises should take action to adapt to the trend of development under the transformation of China’s Economy. He emphasized that transnational enterprises should be more localized in team composition and team management, and that Chinese enterprises should focus on international management and enhance their competitiveness.

Finally, Mr. Wu invited Dr. Ye to analyze a series of changes in branding, including the type of products and consumer acceptance of China’s car industry, which is led by China’s economic transformation.

At the end of this lecture, students actively asked Mr. Wu and lecture guests to exchange their understanding and questions about the China's Economy.
