Blooming Youth for Unlimited Possibilities| The 2019 EMBA Opening Ceremony of Lingnan College, SYSU Grandly Staged
"When, students in the flower of our age, our spirit bright was at its height; full of the scholars' notable rage, we criticized with all our might." The lines in Chairman Mao's poem depicts such a spirit of the participants, who attended the Lingnan College 2019 EMBA Opening Ceremony at Lingnan Hall onSep 5th. Mr. LU Jun, Dean of Lingnan College of SYSU; Mr. CHENG Xianfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee; Mr. WU Jintao, Director of EMBA Education Center; Mr. QI Jian, Deputy Director of EMBA Education Center; the EMBA faculty and staff; and alumni including Mr. WU Xiaoliang, Joint Secretary-General of EMBA Alumni Association; and Mr. CHEN Zebin of Winter Session 2016 attended the ceremony together with thenew students of Class 2019. The event was presided over by Mr. WU Jintao.

At the beginning of the ceremony, faculty, staff, and the students hymned the national anthem and the university anthem. In the solemn singing, the opening ceremony officially curtained up.

Mr. LU Jun, Dean of Lingnan College of SYSU, delivered a welcome speech to the new students on behalf of the school. He introduced the history and recent development of both Sun Yat-sen University and Lingnan (University) College. Sun Yat-sen University was founded by great Mr. Sun Yat-sen whileLingnan (University) College had a consanguinity with Lingnan University which was founded in 1888. With a glorious history, Lingnan (University) College had produced generations of outstanding alumni. Dean LU indicated that with the changes of the circumstances and the rapid development of technology, the enterprises would face greater challenges. The students who chose to return to the college to gather strength were doing the right thing at the right time. At the same time, Dean LU expressed his wish for the students that during the studies they should lay a solid intellectual foundation for their future development. With what they gain at Lingnan, they shall make more achievements, and continue to lead their teams, their firms, and even the society to a further level.

Mr. WU Xiaoliang, the Joint Secretary General of EMBA Alumni Association of SYSUexpressed his warm welcome to the 2019 EMBA students to join the family of Lingnan (University) College. He introduced to the new students the well-recognized regular events of the Association and the School, and he encouraged everyone to actively take a part. "The future does not necessarily mean the aging of your life, more importantly, it is a gift coming from all the life experiences," Mr. WU said. He also mentioned that individuals normally would like to choose the things that they desired, and the process of accomplishing is a process of discovering the internal qualities and start to even love themselves more. Mr. WU appealed all the students to join the Lingnan community as well as the Association because joining Lingnan is a wise choice.,.

Mr. CHEN Zebin, EMBA2016 Winter Session Student, Representative of the Graduated
Mr. CHEN Zebin, the representative of the graduates, student of EMBA2016 winter session, and President of Guangzhou Liby Enterprise Group Co., Ltd., shared his experience learning at Lingnan College. CHEN told the new students that through EMBA study, he had gained a broader perspective, a grander view, clearer thinking, and a higher grasp of corporate strategy; when it comes to the cognition improvement, no matter it is the business model or the tool model, he had benefited a lot and developed a professional comprehension. Quoting from Confucius, "No fancy, no must, no obsession, no self," CHEN expressed his expectation that every new student would make the best of the College resources, learning with an open mind while thinking critically.

Mr. CAI Liang, the representative of Class 2019 then shared his feelings after becoming one of the Lingnan students. He said that in such a best time, and at such a young age, people had no excuse to retreat from striving and hardworking. "We all have experienced confusion, failure, and wondering, and it was those frustrating moments that had propelled everyone to come to Lingnan for further studies and progress as we all want to go further", said Mr. CAI.
New Students Learning to Sing the Lingnan College Anthem
After the speeches, all the students joined together to sing the Lingnan College anthem. The familiar melody evoked the pride of the students. They sangfpr spreading their determination for the future.
"Cultivate people by culture, educate them by virtue." Mr. CHENG Xianfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee gave the first lesson to the new cohort, in which he clarified the meaning and significance of cultivating people with moral composition, and used such notion to illuminate the professional conduct and statesmanship. He expounded that "moral composition" means the establishment of morality in deeds, and "cultivating people" was closely related to the college orientation. Mr. CHEN said that the first-class universities were famed for cultivating the first-class talents; morality is the foundation while education is the core".. CHEN hoped that every individual in the class can be a responsible person, who will carry on the university spirit.
In order to help students adapt to the campus life faster, Mr. WU Jintao, the Director of EMBA Education Center introduced the teams of faculty and administration staff of the EMBA center to the class, who would accompany them during the two years of studies and witness their transformation from excellence to supreme.
