Alumni Association President Forum of Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University Successfully Held

On March 11, 2023, the Alumni Association President Forum of Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University was successfully held in the Chen Rongjie Lecture Hall on the third floor of Lingnan Hall. The presidents, vice presidents, secretary-general and other key alumni representatives from seven project branches of the college (EMBA Alumni Association, CHEMBA Alumni Association, MBA Alumni Association, Sino-French MBA Alumni Association, EDP Alumni Association, On-job Graduate Course Alumni Association, and Adult Education Alumni Association) and seven local branches (Beijing Alumni Association, Shanghai Alumni Association, Guangzhou Alumni Association, Shenzhen Alumni Association, Zhuhai Alumni Association, Dongguan Alumni Association, and Qingyuan Alumni Association) and representative of the board of directors of several grades attended the forum to show their care and support for the college and its development. Huang Ruimin, Director of the Education Development and Alumni Affairs Office of Sun Yat-sen University and Secretary-General of the Alumni Association, Professor Li Shanmin, Director of the Department of Economics and Management of Sun Yat-sen University, Dean of Lingnan College, and President of the Alumni Association of the college, Huang Yi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the college, members of the Party and Political Leadership Team of the college, and representatives of the board of directors of the college were present. The forum was chaired by Fan Fenghui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the college.

 

 

 

Upon its start, all the people present sang the anthem of the People's Republic of China. Huang Ruimin delivered a speech on behalf of the Alumni Association. She expressed her sincere welcome to the alumni who came from all over China, and expressed her heartfelt thanks to all alumni for their support for the development of the university and the college. Huang Ruimin illustrated the rapid development of the university and its achievements in the past period of time and the latest developments of the Alumni Association, and expressed her best wish for all alumni organizations and Lingnan College.

 

 

Professor Li Shanmin, Director of the Department of Economics and Management of Sun Yat-sen University, Dean of Lingnan College, and President of the Alumni Association of the college, made a report on the development of the college for all participants. During the presentation, Li Shanmin, the Dean of the College, discussed the development of the college in three areas: the college's basic situation, key educational initiatives, and the next steps for its work plan. He provided examples of the college's work in areas such as Party building, talent development, scientific research, faculty development, and international collaboration. Statistics show that since 2021, with the joint efforts of faculty members and students of the whole college, the college has achieved good results in all aspects, and the influence of the discipline of economics has continued to rise. In conclusion, Li Shanmin outlined the challenges that the college faces in its current development, as well as his vision for future work. He emphasized the importance of working together with the college's faculty, students, and alumni to build consensus and momentum and achieve a new level of high-quality development.

 

 

Huang Yi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, gave a briefing on the annual work of the Alumni Association. The alumni association provided a retrospective of its achievements in 2022 in three areas: setting up alumni role models, fostering patriotism, promoting Lingnan traditions, supporting talent development, and exploring channels for fundraising. Additionally, the association outlined its plans for future work, focusing on the next phase of the alumni association. It is expected that the alumni association will fully utilize its potential to bring alumni together and serve the college, the Greater Bay Area, and the country, and contribute towards achieving the college's goal of establishing first-class academic disciplines.

 

 

In response to the needs of the alumni work, the college's alumni association has appointed an additional executive vice president. According to the alumni association's regulations, the president of the association made nominations and a communication-based vote was conducted among the alumni council and branch associations. Following the vote by the alumni council and councils of branch associations, it was agreed to recommend Mr. Long Zhaohui as the executive vice president of the alumni association. Li Shanmin, the president of the alumni association, presented the letter of appointment for the executive vice president of the alumni association to Mr. Long Zhaohui. Later, Long Zhaohui made a speech, stating that in the future, he will not disappoint everyone's expectations and will do a good job in alumni services.

 

 

The college's alumni work has received robust support from various projects and alumni associations across multiple regions. The alumni branches have galvanized Lingnan alumni and individuals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to supporting educational causes and making a significant contribution to the advancement of education offered by Lingnan College. The conference invited representatives from six branches to give a presentation. Lu Zhigang, President of the Shanghai Alumni Association, Guan Shouyin, President of the MBA Alumni Association, Lu Ling, Joint Secretary-General of EMBA Alumni Association and President of the Guangzhou Alumni Association, Zhang Fan, Secretary-General of the Beijing Alumni Association, Lin Jiejing, Secretary-General of the Shenzhen Alumni Association, and He Xiong, Executive President of the Zhuhai Alumni Association, shared their experiences in alumni work and their understanding of the Lingnan spirit. They expressed their goal, as Lingnan alumni, to never forget the Lingnan motto and to give back to the college and society through actions. Finally, the alumni put forward some valuable suggestions for the work of the alumni association in the next year.

 

        

The conference ended successfully with the anthems of Sun Yat-sen University and Lingnan College. As we continue to push forward into a new era of progress, we hope that all Lingnan alumni will remain closely united around the college, working together as a team. With everyone's combined efforts, we believe that the future of the college will be even brighter and more promising!
