National Honors Program

In November 2021, the Ministry of Education designated Lingnan College to host Guangdong Province's first training base in economics under the Top-Notch Student Training Program 2.0 in Basic Disciplines (National Honors Program). 

The National Honors Program at Lingnan is a selective, research-focused track offered to academically outstanding undergraduates. Students may apply to the program at the end of the freshman year. Admission is competitive, and students' academic performance is reviewed annually to maintain a high-quality cohort.

The program curriculum provides advanced theoretical knowledge in economics and finance, and rigorous training in mathematics and computer science. Selected doctoral-level courses are opened to students as electives to bridge undergraduate and postgraduate study. Each admitted student is paired with an experienced faculty advisor and is encouraged to join the advisor's research teams, gaining early exposure to the latest economic theories and empirical methods. 

Academic life extends beyond the classroom. Honor students take part in the Dean's Reading Colloquium regularly, where they exchange ideas with faculty and peers around the Dean's recommended books. Students also have the opportunities to participate in research workshops and various kinds of social practice, and receive targeted support for international exchange, research project application, and participation in academic competitions and conferences.
