Associate Provost of Singapore Management University visits Lingnan College
A delegation from Singapore Management University (SMU), led by Themin Suwardy, Associate Provost (Postgraduate Professional Programs Education), visited Lingnan College on March 18.
Associate Dean Yun Dai, Assistant Dean Zhun Xu, and Xinyi Xu, associate professor and Academic Director of Professional Master of Digital Economy at Lingnan College, met with the delegation. Both sides discussed on topics about talent cultivation and academic exchange, reaching preliminary consensus on future collaboration.
At the meeting, Associate Dean Yun Dai provided an overview of Lingnan College's academic strengths, and the developments in talent cultivation and international cooperation.
Associate professor Xinyi Xu introduced the Master of Digital Economy program. It is China's first part-time professional master's program in digital economy. Inaugurated in 2023, the program has witnessed a steady increase in applicants and will soon expand its operation to Shenzhen, offering courses in the two cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Themin Suwardy shared SMU's regional expansion strategy in Asia, including plans to establish its fourth overseas center in Shenzhen. He also highlighted SMU's latest efforts in integrating artificial intelligence into disciplines such as accounting and business, and introduced the launch of new AI-related master's programs.
Suwardy noted the rapid development of science and technology innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and expressed SMU's desire to build closer ties with students and partners in the region.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on potential cooperation programs. Both agreed to fully consider the match of each other's academic structures and programs, and to explore flexible cooperation models.
Lingnan College and SMU are looking forward to translating these discussions into practical cooperation, and will work together to cultivate high-level international talents.
The SMU delegation included Aaron GOH, Director (Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions) of the Office of Postgraduate Professional Programs, and Linette Lim, Director of the Office of Admissions and Financial Assistance, among others.
