International Fair

A traditional event held in March and November each year. The theme of the March International Fair will be “My country my university”. Exchange students are invited to show the amazing cultures of their countries such as foods, dress, folk songs and dances, crafts, etc ; while the November International Fair will be “Promoting Your University” before potential Lingnan students, who will be interested in going abroad to one of the partner universities. Informative presentation will be mainly focused. The November IF will be held at another beautiful campus in Zhuhai City.
 

Lingnan Dragon Boat Team

Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament is a traditional boat race game hosted by the local government, which is held in every June as a traditional sporting event to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival on Pearl River. The Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by eating zong zi (glutinous rice wrapped to form a pyramid using bamboo or reed leaves) and racing dragon boats. As always, Lingnan MBA students will organize their own tem to participate in this event. Exchange students are highly welcomed to join this event. Training sessions will be available for participants.

Lingnan Top 10 Singer Contest

The Lingnan Top 10 Singer Contest is one of the most exciting events at Lingnan. All Lingnanians including students and faculty can participate and compete with each other the best singer for the title of Lingnan Top 10 Singers. The event will be held at the spring term annually.

Lingnan Volunteer Teaching Programs

The Lingnan Volunteer Association is organizing various volunteer activities each semester. Exchange students can participate in the following volunteer teaching programs to deliver Oral English lessons for the children of migrant families, who are lack of teaching facilities and teachers. The programs are Starlight Voluntary Teaching Program and Volunteer Teaching at Lixian Primary School.

Migrant workers in China are mostly people from impoverished regions who go to more urban and prosperous coastal regions in search of work

Join the volunteer teaching programs, the exchange students will have the opportunity to:
1. Teach the kids Oral English
2. Help the disadvantaged children
3. Work with local students

Networking

Exchange students are invited to join the Welcome Dinner  of Lingnan Study Tour program to meet and communicate with the MBA/EMBA students from all over the world with various backgrounds. Lingnan has received regular EMBA/MBA stufy tours  from Lancaster University, Waikato University,  HHL Leizpig Graduate School, MIB School of Management, etc.

Canton Fair

As the biggest and most famous trade exhibition fair in China with a history of 56 years (the 1st Canton Fair was held in 1957), the Canton Fair is held twice at Guangzhou in April and October. All exchange students are highly recommended to visit the Canton Fair to discover the dynamic and prosperous manufacturing and businesses in China and Pearl River Delta, to get on-site experience on the business transactions between China and the world. The Canton Fair covers a wide and comprehensive category of products ranging from electronics, machinery, tools, hardwares, comsumer goods, gifts, toys, seasonal decorations like Christmas products, ceramics, and arts to foods, medicines, textiles, garments and office supplies, etc. It is a great time for overseas buyers to source products and develop business partnership with China enterprises and manufacturers.

Outdoor classes and Tea Reception

The Chinese Language course will offer different cultural activities during the classes. Outdoor classes will bring participants to Guangdong Province Museum, Yue Xiu Park and Canton Fair Exhibition hall, etc for visiting as well as to practice their Chinese in reality. Tea reception will be scheduled at end of the course, enabling participants to learn more about Chinese traditional culture. The tea reception includes tasting Guangzhou dim sum and Chinese tea; introducing the Chinese tea ceremony; learning to make the Chinese lucky knot or paper cutting; Chinese Kongfu performance etc.

Company Visits

Visit to local company is arranged for exchange student to know more about the manufacturing in China and Pearl River Delta areas. The professors of some courses will also arrange company visit for case study or course-related topics.

Buddy Program

Buddy Program at Lingnan is a well-organized association. Volunteer local students are selected each semester to pair with exchange students to help them get acquainted with the new environment, to provide individualized and personal assistance on accommodation, transportation, pick-up service, campus life, cultural exploration, etc. Buddy Program will also assist Office of International Relations to organize all kinds of activities such as Orientation, International Fair, Farewell Party, Outings, City Tour, BBQ during the semester.
