2017 International Fair
The 2017 International Fair took place on October 22nd on the Guangzhou Campus of Sun-Yet-Sen University, organized by International Relations Office and Lingnan College Embassy. 37 exchange students participated in the fair, which interested many Chinese students who would like to participate in overseas exchange programs.
At the fair, more than one hundred students from different grades curiously talked with the exchange students, inquiring about the traditional culture of their own country, their special school life and their studying experience in China. The multicultural communication between exchange students and Chinese students provided an opportunity for us to narrow the cultural gap and make acquaintance with each other. Many exchange students brought brochures of their college. According to one of the Chinese students who took part in the Buddy Program, he not only had a deeper understanding of the foreign colleges but also tasted the delicious food as the exchange students also brought snacks. He added that all the exchange students are humorous, easy-going and open-minded.
After lunch, the game activities started. The Buddy Program prepared games, including the Gesticulate and Guess and Eyesight Game. In the former one, two exchange students and two Chinese students were chosen to be the participants. They bravely came to the center of the stage and expressed the given words by making gestures. With their humorous performance, the audience always bursted into laughter. And in the game Calligraphy PK, the exchange students needed to write down some Chinese characters and show them to his/her teammates. And they needed to guess the meaning of the phrase. To our surprise, although most of them hadn’t written Chinese characters before, their handwriting was flowing and graceful, so their teammates easily recognized the words.
The host announced the winners of the game, which marked the end of the activity. Gifts were given to the winners. No matter how many scores they got, they have built a profound friendship with each other. We want to show our sincere gratitude to all the volunteers and hope that the International Fair can leave a wonderful memory for everyone.
