Two Lingnan students will attend the 31st Summer Universiade fencing competition on behalf of China
The selection match of the 31st Summer Universiade fencing competition was held in Siping, Jilin Province. Lingnan (University) College students, WANG Sikai and LIU Yuqiao attended the competition as the representatives of Sun Yat-sen University. Coating by CAI Yongmao and WANG Lei, the two students won the bronze medal in Men’s and Women’s Fencing respectively. WANG Sikai and LIU Yuqiao will participate in the 31st Summer Universiade fencing competition on behalf of China.
This match aims to select the most outstanding athletics as representatives of Chinese team to attend the Summer Universade in Chengdu, Sichuan next year. It was a fierce competition with professional members of the national fencing team, yet our university fencing team members encouraged each other and were fearless when facing strong competitors, and their courage and spirit have brought our team three bronze medals. Academic performance is certainly important in Lingnan, yet we also want to ensure that students have opportunities to discover and develop their genuine interests and other possible paths in their life.
