Abstract:
This paper explores whether gender and bargaining methods will affect the bargaining results based on the online secondary market. Our results show that buyers who clearly express their willingness to deal prices can get the maximum discount, while male buyers can get greater price concessions than female buyers. Supporting evidence suggests that differential treatment of gender bargainers by sellers may be caused by statistical inference of buyer characteristics.
