Exchange Students Orientation Activities 2019 Fall

On Sunday, August 25, 2019, Lingnan (University) College held welcoming activities for exchange students of 2019 fall semester. The activities were organized by International Relations Office (IRO) and supported by volunteers of local undergraduate and master students. More than 70 exchange students from all over the world participated in the activities.

Opening Ceremony & Orientation

Ms. HU Yibing, Executive Director of IRO, and Ms. Zou Jiali (Shelley), Program Officer of Incoming Exchange Students extended their warmest welcome to the exchange students on behalf of Lingnan. During the welcome speech, Ms. HU encouraged them to make the most of their time in Lingnan to learn Chinese culture and Chinese Language. After the speech, Shelley introduced academic policy, administrative regulations and series of cultural events and company visits etc.

Campus tour

After the 2-hour orientation, the exchange students went on a campus tour with the guide of volunteers. They enjoyed listening to the history and story behind the beautiful architecture. Walking through the old buildings with red bricks and green tiles, they fully immersed themselves in the long history and abundant culture of Honglok Campus. They also appreciated the perfect combination of traditional and modern style when they saw Lingnan hall. The exchange students showed great interest in the architectures, and gained a better understanding of the campus where they will study for four months.

Welcome Party

The welcome party started with a self-introduction video made by exchange students. Then Lingnan and exchange students played games together, in which way, they got to know each other better and cultivated friendship. A group photo at the end of the party captured the good time they spent together.

The three welcoming activities have been enjoyed very much by our exchange students as they were informative, fun and relieved much of the pressure of starting a whole new life in China. We hope our exchange students will spend a fruitful and happy semester in Lingnan (University) College.
