Subsequently, Professor Zhou Xianbo of Lingnan College gave a presentation entitled “Social Network, Internet Use and the Household Stock-market Participation,” in which he discussed the use of the Internet and how the interaction of social networks affects household participation in financial markets. The empirical results show that both factors significantly promote household financial market participation, but the use of the Internet may, to some extent, replace the role of social networks.
