Sun Yat-sen University Awarded "Silk Road" Chinese Government Scholarship

Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) has recently been granted official approval by the China Scholarship Council for the 2026/2027 Silk Road Chinese Government Scholarship Program. The Digital Silk Road – Digital Economy Young Talents Program, jointly led by Lingnan College and the School of Tourism Management, successfully passed rigorous expert review and on-site defense, securing 10 full scholarship slots.

 

Established in response to the Vision and Actions on Jointly Building the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road and the Education Action Plan for the Belt and Road Initiative, the Silk Road Chinese Government Scholarship Program is designed to recruit outstanding potential students from Belt and Road partner countries for undergraduate, master's and doctoral studies. Committed to attracting high-quality international applicants and expanding the scale of scholarship funding for international students, the program aims to cultivate industry leaders and skilled professionals to support the development of Belt and Road partner countries.

 

Aligned with the development strategy of the Digital Silk Road, the approved program draws on SYSU's disciplinary strengths in Digital Economy offered by Lingnan College and Tourism Management offered by the School of Tourism Management. Focusing on cutting-edge fields including digital technology-enabled economic development and digital transformation of cultural and tourism industries, it precisely targets the emerging demands for digital economy advancement and modern service industry upgrading across Belt and Road partner countries.

 

 

The program represents a significant achievement in SYSU's commitment to deepening international engagement and enhancing global talent cultivation. Lingnan College will implement the program with high standards, continuously improving the quality and global impact of international education at SYSU, and contributing to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
