Lingnan Board of Trustees donated money to reward our school's frontline anti-epidemic medical staff
On May 12, the signing ceremony of the donation from the Lingnan Board of Trustees of Sun Yat-sen University was held in Chen Rongjie lecture hall, Lingnan Hall, South Campus. The Lingnan Board of Trustees donated RMB 1.536 million for rewarding and taking care of our school ’s frontline medical staff who went and supported Hubei.
Lin Min, Lu Changling, Liu Bing, Board members, Xu Shan, Ren Feng, Wu Rongkai, Xu Junhui, Advisors, He Sanpeng, Co-Chair of Dongguan Alumni Association of Lingnan College, Ma Leiming, Secretary-General, Shi Bing, Co-Chair of Shenzhen Alumni Association of Lingnan College, Xiao Haipeng, deputy director of the Education Development Foundation and vice president of our school, Lu Jun,Dean of Lingnan College, Chen Xianfeng, Party Secretary of Lingnan College, Huang Ruiming, director of the Office of Education Development and Alumni Affairs, Secretary General of the Education Development Foundation, Secretary General of the Alumni Association, Hunag Yuansui, Deputy Director of the Office of Education Development and Alumni Affairs, Deputy Secretary General of the Education Development Foundation, and Huang Tingting, Deputy Director of the Office of Education Development and Alumni Affairs and Deputy Secretary General of the Alumni Association attended the ceremony. Deputy Secretary-General Huang Yuansui presided over the ceremony.

At the ceremony, the participants watched the anti-epidemic video together, paying tribute to the medical team who fought hard on the front line against the epidemic and all the people who silently stay behind their backs.
Vice President Xiao Haipeng expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Lingnan Board of Trustees. He pointed out that in the face of the Covid-19 epidemic, a total of 512 medical staff in the hospital affiliated to our school went on a retrograde journey to support Hubei. They did not fear the hardships and fought continuously. They showed the strength and responsibility of Sun Yat-sen University.
Vice President Xiao Haipeng emphasized that the generous support of the alumni warmed the frontline medical staff greatly. Thanks to the support of the Lingnan Board of Trustees and the majority of Lingnan alumni, following the earlier donation of a large number of urgently needed medical protection materials in the critical period against the disease, the Lingnan Board of Trustees had once again donated money to take care of and reward front-line medical staff, showing the heart and passion of our alumni. Vice President Xiao Haipeng said that over the years, the vast number of alumni at home and abroad and all sectors of the society had provided strong support for the development of Sun Yat-sen University. He hoped that the elites and alumni from all walks of life would continue to pay attention to and support the development of Sun Yat-sen University, and participate in and witness this historically renowned university shine in the new era.
On behalf of the Lingnan Board of Trustees, Lu Changling, board member, read out the thank-you letter to the frontline medical staff in Wuhan. The letter mentioned that Lingnan Board of Trustees and all Lingnan people were moved by the spirit of selfless dedication of the frontline medical staff, and they were proud of the professionalism and bravery of them. The certificates and awards were set up to thank and pay tribute to each and every hero fighting this disease.
Board Consultant Xu Shan made a speech on behalf of the donor. She said that in the face of the sudden Covid-19 epidemic, the affiliated hospitals of Sun Yat-sen University sent more than 500 medical staff to support the frontline. They moved against the current and fully demonstrated how people of Sun Yat-sen University felt about our mother land. In the early stage of the epidemic, the Lingnan Board of Trustees was informed that the frontline medical team was short of medical supplies, and they immediately called for a donation to support the medical team, callinh on the global Lingnan alumni to participate in this donation, and with their actions, they passed on to the frontline medical staff with strength and warmth. Today, the anti-epidemic heroes had returned triumphantly and safely. To further express their respects, all the board members unanimously agreed to donate and reward all members of the medical team to thank them for their excellent efforts and selfless dedication. This great spirit of the anti-epidemic heroes would inspire all the Lingnan people to continue to unite in the future, move forward, pass on the Lingnan spirit, and contribute to the country and the alma mater.
