Myron S. ScholesHonorary Professor

Professor Emeritus of Finance, Frank E. Buck Professor Emeritus of Finance, Stanford Graduate School of Business; Co-recipient of the 1997 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences.

Myron Scholes is globally renowned for his pioneering research in asset pricing, capital market equilibrium, tax policy, and the financial services industry. He is also a co-creator of the Black-Scholes Option Pricing Model.

Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Scholes has served as the Edward Eagle Brown Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago, a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, and a Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He currently serves as the Chief Investment Strategist at Janus Henderson, where he leads the firm's asset allocation product development.

A member of the Econometric Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Professor Scholes served as President of the American Finance Association in 1990. His extensive industry experience includes serving as Chairman of the Economic Advisory Board at Stamos Capital Partners, Chairman of Platinum Grove Asset Management, a Limited Partner at Long-Term Capital Management (LTCM), and a Managing Director at the prominent investment bank Salomon Brothers.

Professor Scholes holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, along with honorary doctorates from the University of Paris (France), McMaster University (Canada), KU Leuven (Belgium), and Wilfrid Laurier University (Canada).

On December 23, 2023, Sun Yat-sen University held an appointment ceremony, officially appointing Professor Myron Scholes as an Honorary Professor of the Lingnan College.
