Lingnan Welcomes New International Exchange Students of 2016 fall semester
In 2016 fall semester, Lingnan is excited to have more than 65 international exchange students coming to study. On 28th, Aug., International Relations Office and Buddy Program members organized Orientation Meeting and Welcome Party to welcome our international students. The Orientation Meeting is intended to help the new students to get familiar with campus and academic affairs. And in the Welcome Party in the evening, exchange students play icebreaking games with local students while enjoying drinks and snacks.
The Orientation Meeting began with an inspiring speech by Associate Dean Ms. Zhang Yanmei, who extended her warmest welcome to the newly arrivals and encouraged them to explore China and to overcome new challenges. Then, Shelley Zou, Program Officer of Incoming Exchange Students of IRO introduced the IRO function in helping international students. Poppy Guo, Supervisor of Academic Affairs department of the MBA center highlighted some important academic rules and regulations.
Members from Buddy Program gave a comprehensive presentation on the theme of “how to survive in GZ”. Their introduction was so detailed and vivid that they won great laugh from the audience. Two membes of the Dragon Boat Team also came to that stage to promote the Lingnan Dragon Boat Team, which have attracted many international students for the past years.
A welcome party was held in the evening. It served as a networking opportunity for exchange and Lingnan students to get to know each other and build friendship. This year, each international student paired with their buddies to do the catwalk on stage. They played some icebreaking games while enjoying drinks and snacks together.
We warmly welcome the new friends and wish them all the best as they embark on their new journey here in Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-Sen University.
