HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management Visits Lingnan

On April 7th-14th, 2017, 30 EMBA students from the HHL-Leipzig Graduate School of Management in Germany visited Lingnan College for a week-long study tour that included themed lectures and business visits for an in-depth Guangzhou experience.

The study tour began with a lecture by Professor Hu Songhua titled: "Is China a Great Place for Investment?" Considering their business expertise as well as the new environment, the foreign students discussed what they learned about China and how it could apply to future business practices. The week-long tour included other lectures by Lingnan (university) college professors, including: “…Understand Consumers From A Cultural Perspective”, “Understanding Chinese Culture and Its Implications on Management” and “Consumer-oriented Marketing Strategy - Case Study Thinking about China's economy.” The students were inspired to think critically and excitedly discuss what they learned after each lecture.

During the week, visiting students also participated in company visit activities, and were able to explore and learn more about Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and Eagle Brand Ceramics. Staff introduced the development history, main products, technological development and globalization strategy of their respective companies. The highly automated assembly of Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. was particularly exciting for students. After the visits, the students and the staff of the two companies had a lively discussion on development strategy and internationalization path.

In addition to the seminars and corporate visits, the tour group also visited Canton tower to get a panoramic view of Guangzhou, and experienced the unique beauty of the world’s tenth largest city.

Most importantly, the tour improved friendship and cooperation between HHL-Leipzig University and Lingnan College. Although the program has ended, we hope that the friendships formed will continue to prosper and grow with time.
