Buddy Programme

Buddy Programme is a unique and well-organized volunteer association at Lingnan. It was set up to provide individualized assistance and transition for the International Exchange Students at Lingnan in adapting to a new country, culture, and environment. Volunteer students are selected each semester and paired with exchange students. They will contact exchange students before arrival to share information and establish friendship. Upon arrival, buddy programme will provide individualized and personal assistance on airport pick-up, accommodation, transportation cultural exploration, campus life, etc. Also, Buddy Programme will assist to organize all kinds of activities such as Orientation, International Fair, Farewell Party, Outings, city tours, BBQ during the semester, to enrich their experience in Guangzhou and get connected with Chinese students.

From many positive feedback of previous exchange students, Buddy Programme has benefited exchange students in many ways such as get settled down in a new foreign city; cultural sharing, developing deep friendship, get to know well the Chinese students, hang out together for fun, etc.

Buddy Programme is under the guidance of IRO office. Buddies are selected based on the following criteria:

• Responsibility
• His/her views to volunteer service
• His/her willingness and enthusiasm for international learning
• Outstanding organizational and coordination competencies
• Excellent  English communication skills
