Abstract:

We build a robustness (RB) version of the Obstfeld (1994) model to study the effects of financial integration on growth and welfare. Our model can account for, both theoretically and empirically, the observed heterogeneity in the relationship between growth and volatility for different countries. Our calibrated model shows that financial integration leads to significantly larger gains in growth and welfare for advanced countries than developing countries, and the gain increases with the degree of financial integration. Our analytical solutions help uncover the key mechanisms by which this happens.

报告人简介：

        罗雨雷教授现为香港大学经济学副教授，研究方向是宏观经济学、家庭金融、资产定价以及国际金融。杨教授于2005年在美国普林斯顿大学获得经济学博士，这些年以来，先后在Journal of Economic Theory,  Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of International Economics, American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, European Economic Review, Economic Inquiry，Journal of Economic Dynamic Control等国际期刊发表了二十多篇文章。
