16th Lingnan MBA Business Plan Competition 2017

On January 7, 2017, the 16thLingnan MBA Business Plan Competition was successfully held by the MBA Education Center of Lingnan at Lingnan Hall. Five teams took part in the competition, which covered fields from battery and agriculture Biotechnology to cocktail online platform application and best deals product gathering platform. Lecturer. Zheng Xin, Alumni. Fang Ming, Alumni. Chen Yuwen, Associate Prof.Hu Songhua, and Mr. Tang Junzhai served as the event’s judges.

The first round of the competition was the “New Venture Showcase.” Each team elaborately prepared their own project booth in order to make the most out of their limited space and fully display the highlights of each project. In the end, the GNLLY Team won the award for Outstanding Showcase.

The second round was a“60-Second Elevator Pitch.” Each team sent out one member to best articulate their project and to try to interest potential investors. Puthep, from the Vision Team gained the highest recognition from all of the judges, and won the outstanding award in this section.

The third and most intense round of the competition is the “Presentation Round”. Each team created a detailed presentation of their business plans and overall project. After the presentations, the judges critiqued each project and consulted on the winner. In the end, the Vision Team won the award for Outstanding Written Business Plan; Amalen won the 1st Prize of LNBPC2017.

At the end of the competition, Associate Prof. Hu Songhua made concluding remarks on behalf of all of the judges. He also imparted that everyone can learn something from the competition; in his words, a project is touching to others only if it is touching to yourself. He also encouraged students to put it into action if you believe in your project.

Since 2002, this event has been held every year, and it is one of the most historical and important events for Lingnan MBA students. It aims to develop outstanding projects and an entrepreneurial spirit through competition. The selected project and its team members might have the opportunity to take part in a world-class competition, held in the state of Texas in the United States.
