15th Lingnan MBA Business Plan Competition 2016

On January 3, 2016, the 15thLingnan MBA Business Plan Competition was successfully held by the MBA Education Center of Lingnan at Lingnan Hall. Six teams took part in the competition, which coveredfields from medicine and biotechnology to“smart” devices and platform application and logistic transportation. Ms. Tianjing, Ms. Hu Yibing, Mr. Hu Haibo, Associate Prof.Hu Songhua, lecturer ZhengXin, and Dr. Mo Shenjiangall served as the event’s judges.

The first round of the competition was the “New Venture Showcase.” Each team elaborately prepared their own project booth in order to make the most out of their limited space and fully display the highlights of each project. In the end, the Beekeeper Team won the award forBest Presentation.

The second round was a“60-Second Elevator Pitch.” Each team sent out one member tobest articulate their projectand to try to interest potential investors. Wei Siyuan, from the Rock BP Team gained the highest recognitionfrom all of the judges, and won the outstanding award in this section.

The third and most intense round of the competition is the “Presentation Round”. Each team created a detailed presentation of their business plans and overall project. One team even went so far as to create a H5 phone game to better explain their mission. After the presentations, the judgescritiqued each project and consulted on the winner. In the end, the Fifth Ring Team and Rock BP Team won the award for Best Project Writing.

At the end of the competition, Mr., Hu Haibo made concluding remarks on behalf of all of the judges. He also imparted some wisdom upon the competitors, emphasizingthat their business plans should highlight two points: “Does your product have an opportunity in the market?” and“Why should the opportunity belong to you?”In other words, Mr. Hu Haibo underscored the importance of explaining the value of the product and its enforceability in the market.

Since 2002, this event has been held every year, and it is one of the most historical and important events forLingnan MBAstudents. It aims to developoutstanding projects and an entrepreneurialspirit through competition. The selected project and its team members will participate in the Asia Venture Challenge, the champions of which will go on to take part in aworld-class competition,held in the state of Texas in the United States.
