Course Description
The course begins with an overview of graphical and numerical methods for summarizing data. Here we focus on the use of Minitab. These tools are useful for exploratory data analysis. Much of the rest of the course is devoted to the use of inferential statistics. The basis for inferential statistics is the concept of the sampling distribution of a statistic. Some background is given first on statistical distributions, and then the sampling distribution of the sample mean is covered in detail. Once the concept of a sampling distribution is absorbed, basic statistical procedures such as the confidence interval estimation and hypothesis testing are easily understood. These are the basic statistical building blocks for a number of useful statistical procedures that follow, including simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, experimental design, and quality management. Throughout, we focus on basic concepts and the practical use of these methods in management environments. This course provides the background in statistical methods that is required for a number of other courses in the curriculum, such as marketing, operations, and finance.

为期四天的统计决策课,干货满满,受益匪浅。很幸运在中大岭南学院CHEMBA大课堂,得到金融统计学大牛-王燕鸣教授的传道解惑!
王教授,风趣幽默,旁征博引,各种历史典故时事热点顺手拈来,结合项目案例,以点及面,徐徐展开。从宏观到微观,从美大选到三个代表,从治学到做人…这四天的知识量够我消化一世了。开课前,我肤浅地认为统计学就是数人头,搞集合排列。学完了,才知统计学是集各科之大成,是社会运行决策之根本;是从知其然追溯其所以然;是能一叶知秋,顺藤摸瓜,并最终实现例证,自证,实证的逻辑大循环。
我们工作中会碰到的一些问题,比如连锁快餐开店选址,跨国企业设立区域服务中心,投资理财组合,生产计划排表,质量管控,采购分配…如何得到最优解,实现成本最低,利润最大化…都离不开统计学。王教授说简单,就不是建个模分析嘛。点点鼠标,在Excel表里的散点图看看分布曲线,用数据分析去求下相关回归,用规划求解找到最优。哦,搞了半天,原来高中时代恐惧的那堆函数,竟是提升生产力的密钥!
统计学是门关于数据的科学。大数据时代,我们每次出行,消费,点赞,皆有迹可循。全球化框架下,产品五花八门,客户浩如烟海。我们要做产品定位,锁定目标客户群,掌握高净值客户,分析客户需求是呈正态分布还是非正态分布,设立安全库存,把残值转化成增值变量,把不可行的项目转化成可行…王教授说小case,来,一起读下数据,选一选关键自变量,再让数据走一个,结合实际运营经验,建个数智赋能小模型就大功告成了。让你抓破脑袋怎么做决策原来so easy, 还很科学。
回归分析,自变量选取,相关性,p-值,ANOVA分析,单纯形化,离散最优化,正态分布,二项分布,水晶球模拟仿真…统计世界博大精深,奥秘无穷尽。王教授还说数据是个好东西,要会用,但不可迷信,数据来源得去伪存真。我们生活在一个充满不确定性的世界,唯一不变的就是变化。没有百分百的绝对真理,只有最大可能性的可能(概率逻辑)。我们尽可大胆假设(演绎推理),但要小心求证(验证)。在抽象的意义下,一切科学都是数学。在终极的分析中,一切知识都是历史。在理性的基础上,所有的判断都是统计学。从因果关系中推导出强强相关,从随机变量中找出有序规律,我们苦苦寻找的那个真理,是1也不是1,而关于未来的迷人之处正在于此。
课后一同学问了个我们大家都关心的问题:当下大环境不太好,未来两年如何快速高效地搞钱,麻烦教授指点下。教授答:做好本内事,得应得那份。至于炒股,量力而行且胜券在握。哈哈,学了一堆上天入海的高端技能,终还要回到朝九晚五的打卡人生。在不确定的环境下,守住确定的自变量的最大值,这份踏实安稳,就是教授要我们守住的本,也是最真实有效的回归吧!
