CHMB5801 Financial Accounting
Course Description
This course introduces accounting as the language of business and its primary information system. The objective of this course is to provide prospective managers with an understanding of accounting fundamentals, emphasizing the concepts and procedures of external financial reporting. The objective of class sessions is to develop the basics of each topic, explore its implications through examples and cases, and incorporate the topic into the framework of the accounting process and financial statements. The course stresses the evaluation and interpretation of published financial statements and the impact of various accounting methods on the reported results of companies. Students who successfully complete this course will become informed users of financial reports with some level of expertise in understanding and analyzing basic financial statements.
