课程由佛罗里达国际大学商学院（College of Business Administration, Florida International University）的Prof. Weidong Xia线上教授。这门课程自CHEMBA项目01年成立以来就一直由夏教授来讲授，课程内容设置与时间安排十分熟练。除了上课，夏教授还组织了很多案例讨论和互动讨论。案例用于分析在管理IS/IT资源和能力时面临的实际问题。鉴于本课程的目标和该领域迅速变化的性质，课程学习的重点是“学习如何学习”的过程，而不是“记忆内容”。夏教授上课非常投入，喜欢用板书以思维导图地形式上课，声情并茂，并且夏教授会非常详尽又耐心地解答同学们的提问。

ITM课程感受分享
Mr. Xia is like an encyclopedia of Information Technology/ITM.
Course began with a very simple question about what data/information/knowledge is. Is this a very simple question, right? But if you think it deeper, you will then realize that the answer containing many. How human being accept outward things? How do we understand them and master them afterward? What the relationship between each other? Data is the raw material, and Data itself has no value. Data becomes valuable only after it is converted into information. Then what is knowledge? Knowledge is used to judge and help us to convert data into information. They are the fundamental of virtual world. Prof.Xia used an example of indicator light of car’s fuel tank to explain this in a simple way. When do we know we need to equip the tank? And how many do we need to equip?
We are inside of/experiencing any kinds of system every day, so what exactly is a system?
A system should firstly have boundary, input, output. Gap between As-Is and To-Be is the value/output generated by the system. There should be processes inside the system, and only the cooperation between all processes organically can then generate outcome.
The course was always centered on DATA. From lack of DATA in enterprise decades ago, to nowadays the data is flooded.
How to protect DATA privacy, how to use these DATA reasonably, how to quickly adapt to the transformation from plan-based development to agile way so that to adapt to rapid changes. Finally, how to realize the change of value chain through co-innovation with all partners. All these, Prof Xia explained clearly during the class.
Finally, the organic combination of new technology and new organization can maximize the benefit of enterprises.
As an IT practitioner, from my view of point, I truly saw a completely different IT course.
Six short half-days‘ online sessions, knowledge ranged from the single computer system/binary system decades ago, to the latest frontier-technologies including IoT/Big Data/Block Chain/Cloud/Digitalization.; from pure IT technology to Information Systems; from the Information Systems to how IT systems empower enterprises to create value; from the traditional waterfall project development method to the current popular Agile one, as well as the relationship between them; from IT/ITM governance, security and enterprise strategy, relationship between them to how ITM aligns with enterprise’s mission, vision, and strategy etc. This course covered too much, and it was far beyond what I expected.
I know I cannot tell you everything what I learned from this class since it contented too much. I still need more time to learn, to absorb. So, I encourage you to enjoy this class in future.
In such a VUCA era, this is the most valuable IT management related course what I have been met.
