【学生感想】

遇见CHEMBA,一生相伴

时光飞逝,转眼间我从CHEMBA毕业十年了,今年也刚好是CHEMBA项目20周年。CHEMBA学习历程是我人生中一段非常难忘的回忆。

2009年,我担任烟台海颐软件广州分公司总经理。当时公司业务发展很快,员工人数持续增长,超过100人。如何做好管理成为我面临的一个重要问题。我开始了解广州各大高校的MBA和EMBA项目,准备系统学习企业管理知识。在寻找过程中,我发现了CHEMBA。CHEMBA颇具特色,使用明尼苏达卡尔森管理学院的原版教材,来源于卡尔森管理学院和中山大学岭南学院两校的师资和教学管理,该项目连续多年获得中外合作EMBA项目排名第一。这些都深深吸引着我。

2009年10月份,我的CHEMBA学习开始了。重回校园,全新的上课方式,带来的是全新的体验。每个月连续两个周末共四天时间,要学完一门课程。为了更好的学习,我提前做好预习,基本掌握了学习内容。做好预习也是我学好CHEMBA的一个心得。上课时,大部分老师的英语很容易理解,课程最大的挑战来自大量的课堂讨论和互动,这需要很好的英语表达。经过CHEMBA学习,我原本较为欠缺的口语水平也有所进步。此外,课后作业也是一个挑战。个人作业方面,要使用英文,花费时间较久,经常做到下半夜。团队作业方面,由于我来自国企,同学们大多来自外企和私企,我们在思维方式和行事方式上有明显不同,刚开始有些不适应,但是随着学习、做作业、参加班级活动和小组活动的次数增多,我们彼此有了更深的理解,收获到了思维的互补。

这种思维差异的挑战更体现在了商业策划的课程里,我们和美国欧洲的同学主要通过Skype和邮件沟通,起初由于缺乏了解,沟通方面有困难。为了确立选题,我们联系多次才达成一致。商业策划是一次国际化环境下不同语言文化的碰撞和合作,也是我CHEMBA学习中难忘的经历。

2011年5月份,我们来到明尼苏达大学参加海外学习和毕业典礼。海外学习让我们对明尼苏达大学和卡尔森管理学院有了深入的了解。参观当地著名企业,让我们对美国企业及企业管理有了更直接的感受,让我印象深刻的是3M公司。3M的中层管理者都有MBA学习经历,这对企业管理的好处是显而易见的。我们还去美国同学家里做客,一起泛舟密西西比河,留下了难忘的回忆。不过,最激动人心的时刻是参加毕业典礼。当身着毕业服和黄丝带,参加明尼苏达大学盛大的毕业典礼和接受学位证书时,所有的辛苦和努力都是值得的。

CHEMBA学习让我系统学习了企业管理相关理论知识、方法和工具,让我开拓了视野,打开了思维局限,帮我提升了管理能力和水平。CHEMBA平台,特别是班级同学资源,弥足珍贵。在毕业后的岁月里,我们时常相聚,同学们在工作和生活中都给了我无私的帮助和关怀。在后来的工作中,我很重视相关管理知识的实践和运用,当遇到管理上的问题和困难,我会看看相关的教材、案例和笔记,跟同学们交流,获得启发,找到解决方法。     

2013年,蓬勃发展的烟台海颐软件广州分公司变更为烟台海颐软件的子公司——广州海颐软件公司。2020年,广州海颐软件合同额超3亿元,员工人数超500人,是烟台海颐软件多年发展最好的子公司。我也刚被调任烟台海颐软件总经理。在新的平台,CHEMBA的学习经历持续给予我信心,带领海颐软件不断发展壮大。我到烟台总部上班,CHEMBA教材也陪我到了烟台。我给那里管理层上的第一课,就是战略管理,是我结合了CHEMBA课堂所学的企业内部培训课程。

Ten years have passed since I graduated from CHEMBA. CHEMBA learning experience is a very unforgettable memory in my life.

In 2009, I served as the general manager of Guangzhou Haiyi Software. At that time, the company's business grew rapidly and the number of employees continued to grow to more than 100. How to manage well had become an important problem for me. I began to know MBA and EMBA programs of various universities in Guangzhou, and prepared to systematically learn the knowledge of business management. CHEMBA was characterized by its use of original textbooks from the Carlson School of Management in Minnesota and its faculty and teaching management from both the Carlson School of Management and Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University. The program has been ranked NO.1 in joint EMBA programs for many consecutive years.

In October 2009, my CHEMBA study started. You had to finish a course for four days on two consecutive weekends each month. In order to better study, I prepared in advance, basically mastered the learning content. In class, the English of most teachers was easy to understand, and the biggest challenge of the course came from the large amount of class discussion and interaction, which required good English expression. In addition, in team work, as I was from state-owned enterprises, most of other students were from foreign enterprises and private enterprises, our way of thinking was obviously different. After participating in class activities together, we formed a deeper understanding of each other and gained complementary thinking.

The challenge of this difference in thinking is reflected even more in the courses of business planning. We communicated with our American and European classmates mainly through Skype and email. There were difficulties in communication at first due to the lack of understanding. Aiming to decide on the topic, we contacted several times before reaching an agreement. Business planning is a collision and cooperation between different languages and cultures in an international environment, which is also an unforgettable experience of my CHEMBA study.

In May 2011, we came to the University of Minnesota to attend the overseas study and graduation ceremony. Studying abroad gave us an insight into the University of Minnesota and the Carlson School of Management. Visiting famous local enterprises gave us a more direct experience of American enterprises and enterprise management. The most exciting moment is attending the graduation ceremony. All the hard work is worth it when you wear a gown and yellow ribbon to the University of Minnesota's grand commencement ceremony and receive your degree.

CHEMBA enabled me to systematically learn the theoretical knowledge, methods and tools related to enterprise management, which broadened my horizon, opened my thinking and helped me improve my management ability. The platform of CHEMBA, especially the class resources, was invaluable. In my later work, I attached great importance to the practice and application of relevant management knowledge. When I encountered problems and difficulties in management, I would read relevant textbooks, cases and notes, communicate with classmates, get inspiration and find solutions. 

In 2013, the vigorous developing Dongfang Electronics Corporation Yantai Haiyi Software Stock Co. Ltd, co-founded Haiyi Software, Guangzhou branch became the subsidiary of Dongfang Electronics Corporation Yantai Haiyi Software Stock Co. Ltd, co-founded Haiyi Software. In 2020, Yantai Haiyi Software, Guangzhou branch has reached the total contract amount of more than 300 million yuan, the number of employees more than 500 people, which is the best developing branch, when I was just transferred to be general manager of Yantai Haiyi Software. In the new platform, my CHEMBA experience consistently provided me with confidence, leading Yantai Haiyi Software to grow stronger. I went to work at the headquarter of Yantai Haiyi Software, my CHEMBA textbooks also accompanied me to Yantai. I gave the first class to the management, which was strategic management. It was an internal enterprise training course combining what I had learned in CHEMBA.
