CALL FOR PAPERS AND SESSIONS:
=============================
Researchers, academics, practitioners, and students interested in any branch of Operational Research, mathematical modelling or economic analysis are invited to submit abstracts or organize sessions.
Invited and contributed papers will be organized in parallel sessions. In general, sessions will be a part of the Conference streams, and streams are grouped in 25 Main Areas. The list of main areas and streams can be followed at http://euro2018valencia.com/streams_and_areas/.
Each participant may present no more than one paper at the Conference.
Abstract submission system is available online, via the Conference web page or directly at https://www.euro-online.org/conf/euro29/.
Abstracts: max. 1500 characters; submission deadline: March 5, 2018.
Researchers who wish to organize a stream or an invited session or contribute with a paper within an invited session should contact a Programme Committee member of the corresponding area.
MAKING AN IMPACT:
==================
“Making an Impact” includes a wide variety of sessions aimed at helping practitioners to do a better job. It is organized by the EURO Working Group on Practice of OR, the network for O.R. practitioners in industry, consultancy, government and beyond. It will be packed with opportunities to:
*Explore the challenges every practitioner faces, and share solutions
*Try out new techniques – are they any good for you
*See case studies showcasing important applications
*Exchange ideas and expertise with people in similar fields
*Meet leading academics and discover what they can do for you – and what you can do for them
*Build your network among like-minded professionals
For more information and to get involved please see the webpage http://euro2018valencia.com/making-an-impact/
We would like to invite you to contribute to the BOR stream by presenting conceptual or empirical work that considers, but is not limited to, the following area topics:
- Modelling behaviour, including decision making and/or learning behaviour, in a variety of application contexts.
- Measuring the impact of OR models, methods and processes on the behaviour of individuals and/or teams, either on the lab or the field.
- Measuring the impact of individuals and/or teams on the use of OR models, methods and processes, either in the lab or the field.
- Modelling or describing the behaviour of OR users and/or practitioners in OR-supported processes, both in the lab and in the field.
- Theoretical and methodological aspects of Behavioural OR.
- Learning from behavioural studies in other disciplines and applied fields, including: information systems, operations management, computer science, engineering, environmental management, urban planning, economics, psychology, sociology, and organization science.
Please note that the above area topics are not specific to any particular OR approach, and thus we expect contributions from academics and/or practitioners working with a variety of OR approaches (e.g. decision analysis, system dynamics, agent-based and discrete-event simulation, forecasting, problem structuring methods, optimisation). Those who participated in the recent Behavioural OR Winter Workshop hosted by Eawag in Switzerland (http://www.eawag.ch/fileadmin/Domain1/Agenda/2018/div/01/ewg-bor_program.pdf), are also encouraged to present their work at the forthcoming BOR stream in Valencia.
If you are interested in sending an abstract to the BOR stream, please go directly to the abstract submission system page (https://www.euro-online.org/conf/euro29/) and use the following invited session code:5356d134
***Deadline for abstract submissions is March 5th, 2018***
Once we start receiving abstracts we aim to organise the stream into themed sessions of 4 presentations led by a Session Chair. We will be inviting those in a themed session to act as Session Chairs (it is possible to have two Co-Chairs in a session). Alternatively, the Board Members of the European Working Group on Behavioural OR (EWG-BOR) attending the EURO conference will be ready to act as Chairs if needed.
If you want to organise a themed session of 4 talks then let us know (see our contact details below). We can create your proposed themed session in the abstract submission system, and then let you have an invited session code so that you can invite speakers to your session conveniently. At this point, you can give a tentative title to your session and modify it later if needed.
If you know a colleague who might be interested in either submitting an abstract or in organizing a themed session, please feel free to forward this invitation.
***If you are an early career academic, post doc or PhD student: please note that prior to the EURO conference there will be a “BEHAVIOURAL OR YOUNG RESEARCHER COLLOQUIUM” to be held in in Madrid, 6-7 July 2018. More details will appear soon in the BOR (www.bor.aalto.fi) and EWG-BOR (https://www.euro-online.org/web/ewg/42/euro-working-group-on-behavioural-or) sites ****
We hope that you are interested in contributing to the Behavioural OR Stream, and that together we can repeat the success of the last four years!
