The 13th International Symposium on Operations Research and its Applications in engineering, technology and management

General Information

The 13th International Symposium on Operations Research and its Applications in engineering, technology and management (ISORA 2018), organized by Asia-Pacific Operations Research Center (APORC) under APORS and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), will be held in Guiyang, China, August 22-26, 2018.

ISORA is a series international symposium with goals to provide an international forum for scientists, researchers, educators, and practitioners in OR/MS to exchange ideas and approaches, to present research findings and state-of-the-art solutions, to share experiences on potentials and limits, and to open new avenues of research and developments, on all issues and topics related to the theories and applications of Operations Research. The previous ISORAs under the support of CAS and National Science Foundation of China (NSFC) were successful and attracted many international scholars.

Language

The working language of the conference will be English.

Call for Papers

The themes of will be focused on "OR Applications in the fast changing world". We are particularly interested in submissions that report on experimental and applied research motivated by pratical social and industrial problems. Theoretical and applied papers are expected to show convincingly the usefulness and efficiency of models, algorithms, and decision supporting tools discussed in a practical setting. Typical, but not exclusive, topics of interest are:

  • Optimization Theory and Applications
  • Deterministic and Stochastic Models
  • Big Data Analytics
  • Algorithms and Design
  • Logistics Management
  • Telecommunication Networks
  • Complex Networks
  • Emergency and Disaster Management
  • Health Care Models
  • OR Applications in Public Sector
  • OR Practices in Industry, Service, Finance, Business, Military and Biology
  • Cost Benefit Analysis and Economic Impact

All submissions will be rigorously peer reviewed and evaluated on the quality, originality, soundness, and significance of their contributions. Original research papers are solicited in all aspects of Operations Research and its applications in engineering, technology and management, including but not limited to the above topics.

Accepted papers will be presented at the conference oral and poster sessions. Selected papers will be recommended to publish on the ORSC journals.

Notes:

  • All submissions will be rigorously peer reviewed and evaluated on the quality, originality, soundness, and significance of their contributions. Original research papers are solicited in all aspects of Operations Research and its applications in engineering, technology and management.
  • The papers should be written in English. While submitting your manuscripts, please make sure it has included the following information:
    • Title of the paper
    • Abstract of the paper (within 400 words)
    • Name(s) and affiliation(s) of the authors
    • Postal address and e-mail address of the authors
    • Full manuscript for paper submission (not required for poster)
  • Only on-line submissions (in ps or pdf formats) are acceptable.
    • Payment by CN Yuan (RMB) or equivalent US Dollar is acceptable.
    • All attendees should be registered. The registration covers technical sessions, welcome reception, conference banquet, tea/coffee breaks during the conference. Guest registration shall include reception, banquet, and some social activities and sightseeing during the conference.
    • Additional fee will be incremented onto registration fee for late registration after 2018-06-20 24:00. Early registration is strongly encouraged

Visa Information

For those who need official letters to apply Chinese entry visa for academic activities, please provide the following information and send them via email to dliu@amt.ac.cn before June 30, 2018.

You may apply Chinese entry visa for sightseeing (as a tourist) at Chinese embassy or consulate in your country. In this case you do NOT need to apply for an "academic" entry visa.

Required Information for Visa Letter

In your email, please provide the following information:

  1. Official name in the passport;
  2. Date of birth;
  3. Nationality;
  4. Passport number;
  5. Affiliation (e.g. Universities);
  6. Cities you are going to visit in mainland China (e.g. Beijing, Shanghai);
  7. Tentative arrival and departure (to and from China) dates;
  8. Place you are going to apply visa (e.g. USA, UK);
  9. Airmail address and fax number where you want the letter to be sent;
  10. Photocopy (scan) of your passport, the pages with your photo and signature.

If you have a companion, then you should also provide the above information about him/her.

Upon receiving the above information, the Chinese Academy of Sciences will issue an official letter for you to apply entry visa for academic activities.
