Board of Trustees
Over the years, under the firm leadership of the university and the Party committees of various schools, the board of directors has united alumni of Lingnan University and people from all walks of life at home and abroad. It has always targeted the needs of the country, helped the university to cultivate socialist builders and successors, and donated more than 250 million HKD to improve the environment and conditions of the university.
The board of directors of the university was formed in 1988. Dr. Wu Zhande was the first chairman of the board of directors; in 1995, Dr. Huang Bingli succeeded; in 2001, Dr. Lu Jianyuan became the third chairman; in 2005, Dr. Liu Rui was elected as the fourth chairman. In June 2009, Dr. Chen Wanxiong became the fifth chairman; from June 2013, Ms. Wu Shuqing served as the sixth chairman. In January 2017, Mr. Wang Junyan was elected as the seventh chairman. Since July 2022, Mr. Ren Feng has served as the eighth chairman.
The Lingnan College Teaching and R&D Fund was set up by the board of directors in 1997. In the same year, it was approved by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government as tax-exempt. It has collected more than 11 million HKD.
Also, alumni of Lingnan University and people who are enthusiastic about education have raised funds to establish the Lingnan College Board Education Award Fund to reward students and faculty members with outstanding achievements. More than 100 teachers and students receive the awards every year.
The board of directors holds two meetings every year to report on the latest developments of the schools and make suggestions for future work.
