 Lai Youwei, Lingnan College, Sun Yat-sen University. Graduated in 2003 from the School of Economics, Peking University, with a PhD in Economics. His main research areas include industrial economics, digital economy, and regional economics. In September 2005, he was rated as Associate Researcher by the Professional Title Evaluation Committee of the Development Research Center of the State Council, and in March 2011, he was promoted to Researcher. In December 2014, recognized as an expert enjoying the State Council's special government allowance. Starting October 2025, he will serve as a research professor at Sun Yat-sen University. He also serves as an executive director of the Public Economy Research Association and deputy director of the Academic Committee of the Consumer Economics Society. He has served as Deputy Director of the First Research Office of the Industrial Economics Research Department at the Development Research Center of the State Council, Secretary at the Division Level of the General Office, Deputy Director of the General Office, Deputy Secretary-General of the Academic Committee, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Management World Magazine, Vice President of Meituan, and Director of the Meituan Research Institute. He has published over 100 articles in academic journals such as Managing the World, World Economy, International Trade, and Reform, as well as in newspapers and periodicals like People's Daily and Economic Daily. Many of these articles have been fully reprinted by Xinhua Digest and Renmin University Reprinted Newspapers and Periodicals. Participated in completing more than 20 major reform plans and policy research and evaluation tasks assigned by the central government, wrote over 100 policy research reports, and received instructions from central leaders for more than 20 reports such as "Policy Recommendations for Cultivating and Developing Emerging Modern Service Industries" and "Main Challenges and Policy Recommendations in Developing Cross-border E-commerce." He has received the China Development Research Award multiple times.
